Booths need two things a wall does not: a standard outlet within reach, and somewhere for a queue to form that is not the bar. In the waterfront towers that is straightforward — the pre-function space outside the ballroom was built for exactly this. In the smaller Grove Street and Newport venues we will ask for a floor plan first, because a 360 platform wants a ten-foot square with clearance all round and there is no point discovering on the night that the only spot is the fire exit.
The other Jersey City particular is the commute. A good share of guests come through the PATH, which means arrivals bunch rather than trickle. Booths get their heaviest use in the first hour here, and an attendant who keeps that line moving is the difference between two hundred prints and eighty.
